About Our Company

Welcome To CCM/Ethiopia

CCMs are mechanisms for public private partnership in the governance of HIV, Tuberculosis, and Malaria national disease programs. CCMs request financing from the Global Fund on behalf of the country and provide strategic oversight to ensure effective and strategic implementation of the program. An effective CCM is central to the Global Fund’s mission of “investing the world’s money to end AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.” It is a unique country-level forum that brings together actors from all sectors, including affected populations, and other public health fora (e.g., strengthening systems for health) to achieve the vision of a world free from the burden of these three diseases.
Focus Area

HIV/AIDS Grant

Ethiopia has made significant strides in achieving national control over the HIV epidemic, but there are still pressing challenges in ensuring equitable access to HIV services across different demographics and regions. In 2022, the national HIV prevalence among adults stood at 0.91%, with notable variations between regions. Gambella and Addis Ababa reported the highest prevalence at 3.7% and 3.1%, respectively, while the Somali region had less than 0.1%.
Focus Area

Tuberculosis Grant

Tuberculosis (TB) is a preventable and curable disease. TB is caused by the bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which spreads when people who are sick with TB expel bacteria into the air. Globally, an estimated 10.6 million people fell ill with TB in 2022, up from 10.3 million and 10 million in 2020. In 2022, there were 1.13 million TB deaths among HIV-negative people. TB remained the second-leading cause of death from a single infectious agent in 2022, after Covid 19.
Focus Area

Malaria Grant

Ethiopia, like many sub-Saharan African countries, grapples with a significant burden of malaria. This section delves into the current malaria landscape in the country, providing a comprehensive overview of prevalence, distribution, and associated factors. It examines progress made in recent years in the fight against malaria, shedding light on successful interventions and their impact on disease control. Additionally, this section critically addresses the persisting challenges that hinder the complete eradication of malaria in Ethiopia.
Focus Area

Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH)

Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, formal and community health systems in many low- and middle-income countries were strained, facing shortages of skilled health care workers; costly and incomplete supply chains; inadequate data; poor integration of government, private sector and community health systems; siloed implementation of national disease control programs; and many other challenges.
