DESCRIPTION:CCM/E held its 20th Oversight Committee meeting at the Inter Luxury Hotel\, Addis Ababa on February 13\, 2024. The meeting aimed to achieve the following objectives: \n\nDiscuss the performance and status of Global Fund Grants related to HIV\, TB\, Malaria\, and RSSH\, along with progress updates on COVID-19 response\nIdentify emerging bottlenecks and challenges negatively impacting grant implementation and performance\nPropose key solutions to address the identified bottlenecks and recommend decisions for CCM/E consideration\n\nParticipants included Oversight Committee members\, Program\, Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E)\, Procurement and Supply Management (PSM)\, and Finance focal points\, as well as representatives from Federal Level Implementing Entities (EPSS\, EFDA\, EPI\, NEP+\, CCRDA\, HDAMA\, OSSHD\, ISHIDO\, Reach Ethiopia). \nThe outcomes and proposed way forward from these discussions will be discussed during the upcoming 113th CCM regular meeting scheduled for February 22nd\,2024. SUMMARY:Revitalizing Momentum: CCM/E Membership Election to Fill Vacancies and Enrich the CCM/E Membership on December 28\, 2023\, at Ellily International Hotel\, Addis Ababa
DESCRIPTION:CCM/E\, a national committee\, brings together different stakeholders: government officials\, development partners\, academia\, NGOs\, individuals affected by diseases\, faith-based organizations\, and the private sector. With open seats available\, the CCM/E secretariat actively sought to enhance representation\, including positions for local NGOs focusing on HIV and TB\, as well as constituencies for key and vulnerable population. The committee orchestrated an election process outlined in the CCM/E governance manual. To ensure transparency and inclusivity\, the event welcomed the active participation of CSOs working on TB\, HIV\, and vulnerable populations\, along with local NGOs specializing in TB and HIV\, and existing CCM/E members. Before the election\, the CCM/E ethics officer shared insights with participants on the Global Fund\, CCM Ethiopia\, grants supported by the Global Fund\, and the role of CSOs in implementation. Following that\, the executive secretary of the CCM/E explained detailed member selection criteria and constituency-specific expectations. The workshop and discussion were guided by the CCM/E CSOs engagement and coordination officer. Participants were grouped based on the constituencies they represent\, and nominees were elected through a voting process. Discussion minutes were drafted and approved by the chair of the constituencies group\, signifying endorsement by all participants.

SUMMARY:Unlocking the Power of Collaboration: CCM/E Hosts Dynamic Networking Workshop for CSOs and Constituencies
DESCRIPTION:Effective communication and networking lie at the heart of impactful engagement. The CCM/E secretariat recently organized an inspiring networking workshop\, fostering connections among Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and constituencies dedicated to addressing HIV and TB\, held on January 4 and 5\, 2023\, at Golden Tulip Hotel\, Addis Ababa. The workshop aimed introducing the CSOs and constituencies communication plan\, presentation and discussion on different networking options and selection of CSO engagement and networking committee members’ then discussion on the way forward for program implementation \nMs. Aster Birke lights the way forward during both days workshop \n \nMs. Aster Birke\, the CSOs and constituencies consultant at CCM/E\, introduced the workshop’s agenda\, emphasizing its necessity due to perceived gaps in communication among CSO representatives and their constituencies. She passionately stressed the vital role of communication before\, during\, and after CCM/E meetings. Ms. Aster shared insights into diverse communication and networking strategies\, encouraging participants to draw from th \nDay 1: January 4\,2023 dedicated to HIV program \nDr. Girmachew Mamo\, the esteemed CCM/E member representing CSOs working on HIV program\, emphasized that the pivotal role of CSOs and constituencies as the program’s main pillars\, he urged a shift in focus to defeating diseases beyond mere funding. Dr. Girmachew highlighted the need for maximum engagement and efficient resource utilization\, calling for a strategic plan to network and collaborates effectively. \n  \nDay 2: January 5\,2023 dedicated to TB program \n \nMr. Meseret Yenehun\, a former CCM/E member representing CSOs working on TB program\, opened the second day’s workshop. He expressed gratitude to the CCM/E secretariat for organizing the workshop\, highlighting the potential for networking to strengthen CSOs’ capacity and provide evidence-based information. He underscored the multifaceted responsibilities of CSOs\, ranging from assessing community problems and being the voice of the community to gathering their views and reporting back key updated information to them. He mentioned that CSO networking doesn’t exclusively cater to individuals affected by TB but extends to addressing broader community needs \n  \n\nBuilding network\, committees take shape\, Participants actively engaged during the discussions\, sharing their experiences and perspectives. The workshop culminated in the selection of five individuals for the Networking Committee and two individuals for the CSOs Engagement Committee. With a commitment to transparency\, the group decided to develop a Terms of Reference (TOR)\, a guiding document to be endorsed during a half-day workshop in three weeks. This workshop not only strengthened connections but also set the stage for empowered collaboration among CSOs and constituencies\, fostering a united front against HIV and TB.
