Introductory discussion with H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba on May 13th 2024 at MoH

On May 13th 2024, CCM/E secretariat staffs and the GF grant coordinator met with H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba, Minster of Health at the Ministry of Health (MoH) to discuss optimizing resource utilization for critical health programs.

The meeting provided an overview of the Global Fund, a major contributor to health programs in Ethiopia, CCM/E major responsibilities and purpose of establishment, how recipient countries utilize these funds. Additionally, the current status of disbursement and liquidation of each grant (TB, HIV, Malaria, RSSH and C19rm) were presented.

H.E. Dr. Mekdes Daba emphasized the importance of strict monitoring and follow-up to ensure the optimal liquidation of remaining funds within the current grant period. In addition, Proactive planning for the next grant cycle (Grant Cycle 7) was highlighted as crucial for a smooth transition and continued access to vital resources for controlling the three diseases.
