Malaria Constituency Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Meeting Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

On December 23rd, 2025, the Country Coordinating Mechanism for Ethiopia (CCM/E) Secretariat convened a full-day consultative meeting with the Malaria Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) constituency. The primary objective was to strengthen meaningful CSO engagement to ensure inclusive participation, improved oversight, and effective Global Fund grant implementation.

During the session, Sub-Recipients (SRs) and Sub-Sub-Recipients (SSRs) shared their field experiences, highlighting both the successes and the challenges encountered during the implementation of Grant Cycle 7 (GC7). Participants engaged in robust discussions focused on:

  • Bidirectional Communication: Improving the flow of information between CCM/E members and their broader constituency to ensure all voices are heard.
  • Grant Oversight: Redefining the role of CSOs in monitoring grant performance to enhance transparency and accountability.
  • National Network: Reviewing progress updates on the establishment of a formal National Malaria Constituency Network.

Furthermore, Mr. Hayelom Assefa, engagement and communication officer CCM/E outlined the latest guidance from the Global Fund regarding funding development and detailed the specific expectations for CSOs during the upcoming GC8 funding application phase. The meeting concluded with the successful nomination of an Engagement Focal Person to represent and coordinate the constituency’s efforts moving forward.
