119th Country Coordinating Mechanism for Ethiopia (CCM/E) regular meeting on September 23rd,2025 Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
The 119th regular meeting of the CCM/E was held in Addis Ababa on September 23, 2025. Chaired by H.E. Semereta Sewasew and Dr. Girmachew Mamo, the meeting focused on critical grant oversight, Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) grant reprioritization, the fulfillment of CCM/E committee vacant positions and presentation on the CCM/E annual plan for GC 7 year 2 (July 2025-June2026).

Key agenda for discussion were Grant Oversight for the period four of the GC 7 (April–June 2025), discussion on Grant Cycle 7 Grant Reprioritization, CCM/E Oversight and Resource Mobilization committee Membership endorsement and discussion on the CCM/E GC 7 1st year Grant Cycle 7-year 1 Annual Performance Report and year 2 Plan.


Below are the focus discussion points
- A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the performance of Global Fund grants for Period 4 (April–June 2025). Mrs. Tina Boonto Vice chair of the Oversight Committee (OC) presented the summary of each grant’s performance (HIV, TB, Malaria, C19RM and Resilient and Sustainable System for Health (RSSH)) both at the Principal Recipient and Sub Recipients level. The CCM/E members engaged in a crucial discussion about supply chain management and the need for all grants to adopt cost-effective and innovative approaches to enhance service delivery. The OC also emphasized the urgency of accelerating the development and approval of the sustainability roadmap document and beginning its implementation. A major point of discussion was to critically review the transition period and the process from DICs (Drop-in Centers) to Key Population (KP) friendly clinics.
- Dr. Zerihun Hika, the Global Fund grant coordinator, presented a summary of the reprioritization process. The discussion centered on certain activities, particularly within the HIV program, that had not been reprioritized. The Ministry of Health leadership took on the responsibility of ensuring that no crucial activities were overlooked during this process.
- Mr. Dagim Damtew, the CCM/E Executive Secretary, presented a comprehensive summary of the CCM/E’s achievements during Year 1 of the GC7 grant. He also proposed a detailed plan for Year 2, structured around six key thematic areas: Coordination and Governance, Civil Society Organization (CSO) Engagement, Oversight, Resource Mobilization, Ethics and Governance and Cross-cutting Activities.
