Formation of the Ethiopia End Malaria Network (EEMN)

The fight against malaria in Ethiopia has gained new momentum with the launch of the Ethiopia End Malaria Network (EEMN). At a meeting held at the Elilly International Hotel in Addis Ababa, local and international NGOs came together to establish this vital network. The meeting was opened with a welcoming and opening speech delivered by Hon. Dr. Abere Mihiretie, Executive Director of the Health Development and Anti-Malaria Program

Mr. Ashebir Wegayehu, a malaria expert, presented the purpose of establishing the EEMN and the contents of its bylaws. His presentation focused on the network’s name, logo, objectives, and membership requirements. The participants then discussed and endorsed the foundational document, after which they elected five board members
This board will now focus on registering the EEMN with Authority of Civil Society Organizations (ACSO) and driving the network’s efforts to end malaria in Ethiopia. The board members are: Dr. Abere Mehretie (Chairperson), Dr. Zelem Kebede (Vice Chairperson), Dr. Alemayehu Mekonen (Secretary), Mr. Getachew Atsebeha (Member), and Dr. Yonas Temesgen (Member)
