Global Fund GC7 Grant Project Performance Review Meeting

Love in Action Ethiopia (LIA) conducted a one-day Project Performance Review Meeting on the implementation of the GC7 TB grant supported by the Ministry of Health on November 4, 2025, at Tika Hotel, Bishoftu.

The meeting’s theme was: “Strengthening the Provision of Equitable and Sustainable Anti-TB Services to All At-Risk Communities in Ethiopia”

The event drew over 35 participants representing the Ministry of Health (MOH), the Country Coordinating Mechanism of Ethiopia (CCM/E), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), TB survivors, and development partners. The session began with a welcoming remark from Mr. Aklilu Gebremichael, Love in Action Ethiopia’s Executive Director, followed by a keynote speech from CCM/E, and an official opening address by Mr. Taye, the National TB and Leprosy Desk Leader at the Ministry of Health.

Mr. Taye, the National TB Program Team Leader, emphasized the crucial role of engaging Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the fight against TB, particularly in promoting behavioral change communication, advocacy, and program sustainability. He highlighted a critical gap: although general awareness about TB is relatively high, the population’s knowledge and attitudes toward the disease remain low. He therefore stressed the need to strengthen behavioral change interventions to achieve the global target of ending TB by 2030.

During the session, the implementing organizations (Sub-Sub Recipients – SSRs) presented their programmatic and financial performance, highlighting key achievements, lessons learned, and challenges.

The five implementing organizations (SSRs) operating in different regions are:

  • Beza Posterity Development Organization (BPDO)
  • Redeem the Generation (RTG)
  • Ebenezer Supporting Development Association (ESDA)
  • Green Initiative Development Organization (GIEDO)
  • Tegaru Association

Following constructive discussions, participants developed actionable recommendations, emphasizing two main areas: the need to further strengthen behavioral change programs particularly those focusing on marginalized and most vulnerable populations and the importance of intensifying awareness creation and advocacy efforts among high-level leadership, religious institutions, schools, and correctional facilities were underscored to combat stigma and discrimination associated with tuberculosis.
