HIV CSO Constituency Meeting
The HIV Constituency Meeting was held on June 18, 2026. More than 20 representatives from different organizations attended the meeting. The meeting took place at Dreamliner Hotel in Addis Ababa and provided a platform for participants to discuss key constituency issues, on engagement and contribution of CSOs in the upcoming GC8 funding request preparation and share update of the GC7 grant Implementation.
Dr. Kassa Hailu, Executive Secretary of the CCM/E Secretariat, welcomed participants to the CSO Constituency Meeting. He introduced the meeting agenda and emphasized the importance of the discussions, particularly in relation to the upcoming Global Fund GC8 Funding Request preparation process. He also briefed participants on relevant CCM/E updates and encouraged active participation throughout the meeting. Dr. Girmachew Mamo, Chief of Party, ISHDO and CCM/E Vice Chair delivered gave an opening remark. He expressed his appreciation to all participants for their commitment and attendance and officially declared the meeting open.
Following the opening remarks, updates on the implementation of the Global Fund GC7 grants were presented by implementing organizations.
Mr. Kasshun Tadesse NEP + Executive Director provided an overview of the GC7 grant implementation progress of NEP+, highlighting key achievements and challenges. In Addition, Mr. Dandi Kefyalew from CCRDA, Mr. Seyoum Geberemeskel form ISHDO, and Mr. Beyene Miju from OSSHD presented updates on activities implemented by their respective organizations, sharing progress made, achievements attained, and challenges encountered during implementation.
Following the GC7 implementation presentations, participants actively engaged in discussions, raising questions, comments, and suggestions. The issues raised were addressed by the presenters and representatives of the implementing organizations, including the Sub-Recipients (SRs) and Sub-Sub-Recipients (SSRs), who provided clarifications and additional information as needed.
GC8 Funding Request Writing Team Composition, Nomination Process, and Discussion
The HIV Constituency held a discussion on the nomination of representatives to participate in the GC8 Funding Request Writing Team. Members emphasized the importance of ensuring that the writing team is composed of individuals with strong technical expertise, experience in Global Fund grant implementation, and a thorough understanding of the HIV response and broader health systems strengthening priorities.
After careful deliberation, the HIV Constituency nominated six (06) representatives of the HIV Constituency to serve on the GC8 Funding Request Writing Team. In addition, one (01) representative was nominated to represent the Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) component.
The elected representatives will participate in the GC8 Funding Request development process and contribute their expertise to ensure meaningful constituency engagement, inclusive participation, and effective representation throughout the process.
Finally, the HIV Constituency member reached consensus to elect SRs for GC8 Funding Request separately and notify to the CCM/E secretariat shortly .The meeting was adjourned at 02:20 p.m.
