CCM/E Secretariat and TB CSO Constituency Strengthening Meeting

Date: June 5, 2025

The CCM/E Secretariat, in collaboration with the TB CSO Constituency, convened a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening the engagement of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the CCM/E platform. The meeting brought together CSOs working on TB programs, as well as representatives of key and priority populations and TB-affected communities.

The primary goal of the meeting was to enhance civil society participation in CCM/E planning, decision-making, and evaluation processes. The event featured key presentations and interactive discussions that addressed current challenges, shared strategic updates, and developed actionable recommendations.

Key Presentations:

  • Community Engagement Plan and Bidirectional Communication: A presentation on strategies to foster meaningful engagement between the CCM/E and communities, emphasizing the importance of effective two-way (bidirectional) communication with stakeholders.
  • Navigating GC7 Adaptations: Preserving Lifesaving TBServices: Insights into how changes under GC7 are being made, with a focus on sustaining essential HIV services.
  • Implementation of the Global Fund’s “Love in Action Ethiopia” (LIAE) Grant and Budget Revision Challenges: A deep dive into the implementation progress, budget challenges, and adaptation strategies under the LIAE grant.

Discussion Outcomes and Action Points:

  • Emphasize the need for increased domestic resource mobilization by organizations to sustain interventions and reduce reliance on external funding.
  • Provide strong implementation evidence for the GC7 grant to support prioritization and demonstrate high-quality performance.
  • Address representation gaps of TB-affected communities within CCM/E membership.
  • Strengthen collaboration platforms to foster positive engagement and partnerships between CSOs, Principal Recipients (PRs), and other stakeholders.
  • Enhance the engagement of the TB constituency in the CCM/E, ensuring they serve as a strong community voice and implement bidirectional communication effectively.
  • Appoint a dedicated Community Engagement Focal Person to coordinate the TB constituency’s involvement within the CSO Engagement Committee.

This meeting marks an important step toward ensuring that the TB-affected community and civil society are actively and meaningfully engaged in shaping the priorities and implementation of Global Fund-supported programs in Ethiopia.
