Global Fund Grant Cycle 7: Workshop on grant activity reprioritization and Budget Revision
On August 18–19, 2025, Global Fund grant recipients, including Principal Recipients (PRs) and Sub-Recipients (SRs), successfully conducted a two-day workshop. The workshop, held in collaboration with the CCM/E secretariat, aimed to finalize the revision of Global Fund Grant Cycle 7 (GC7), which supports programs for HIV, TB, Malaria, Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH), and the COVID-19 Response Mechanism (C19RM).

This workshop was the final stage of a series of preparatory engagements that included a reprioritization exercise (July 14–18) and technical consultations with the Global Fund Country Team (CT) (July 21–24). These processes established the foundation for revising the grant’s budgets and narrative components by first prioritizing key activities.

During the workshop, PRs and SRs, in collaboration with the CCM/E and technical partners, successfully updated GC 7 Year 1 expenditures, revised the detailed Years 2 and 3 budgets with updated unit costs and exchange rates, and prepared a narrative summary of all changes. A key outcome was the consolidation of input from all parties on the reprioritization, which clearly outlined the activities that would be maintained and those that would be removed from the revised grant package.
Next Steps
The finalized documents are scheduled for submission to the Global Fund Country Team and the Local Fund Agent (LFA) by August 20, 2025, in line with the agreed timeline. On the same day, CCM/E members will also receive the draft documents for their review. This will precede an extraordinary meeting on August 27, 2025, where members will provide feedback and officially endorse the revised grant.

This two-day workshop marks an important step in Ethiopia’s continued efforts to ensure that Global Fund resources are strategically allocated to maximize impact and strengthen the national responses to HIV, TB, and malaria.
